Athletes like the young man holding this camera are the reason I do what I do. Everybody is not going to make it into the NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, MLS… or whatever. But we can all “make it”. And Brandon “BraanBraan” Battles is making it. I used to see him standing in the corner quietly at athletic events. He had the weakest little camera setup, but he was WORKING IT! He didn’t let where he was at stop him from getting to where he was going. Read that again.
Fast forward 2 years and he’s the talk of the town and ain’t NOTHING QUIET about when he shows up with a camera. He’s got some good gear now and is making a living doing what he loves to do. I just pray that he understands the responsibility that he has placed on his own shoulders. He’s looked up to as a role model and example now, and that crown is heavy. When I shot this photo, he was obviously in deep though… not even sure he was filming. I’d like to think he was having a moment with his gal… the one who has held him down these past 2 years. Sometimes you gotta just stare into her beautiful LCD screen and say… “Thank you, I appreciate you.”
