As the summer gets into full swing for athletics, it’s always important to me to find out what’s about to happen NEXT! The top athletes have graduated, and most have already departed for school. The ones who are still here have shifted focus to their next set of life goals and are usually far removed from the local athletic atmosphere that they once spent so much time and energy on.
So, during the summer, I like to find the youngsters. The ones who nobody notices right now, because they may be small and inexperienced, but there is always that “thing”. It’s hard to describe it but when I see it I know it. The kids that have that extra bit of focus in their eyes. The look that says, I don’t really know all that’s going on right now, but I’m not focused on anything else but THIS! And one day, those same kids that everyone is looking over, will be the same kids that everyone is trying to get a piece of in the next 2-3 years.
I pride myself on staying ahead of the curve, on knowing who’s next. And I have seen them. You will be able to tell by my content in the upcoming months who they are. After you see my content, rest assured that there will be others that follow. The kids always remember though. They remember who saw it in them first. They remember where that first bit of confidence came from. That’s what I love. Get ready to watch the next generation.
